BACKGROUND:

An exception exists to the Nevada Open Meeting Law requirement for public meetings when legal counsel for a public body wishes to present to the members of a public body information regarding potential or existing litigation involving a matter over which the public body has supervision, control, jurisdiction, or advisory power and to deliberate toward a decision in the matter.  See Nevada Open Meeting Law Manual, Section 5.11.  This private session has been requested by the District Attorney to advise the Board on potential or pending litigation.

Pursuant to NRS 288.220, staff is also prepared to provide an update to the Board regarding ongoing labor negotiations.
