BACKGROUND:

On December 19, 2023, the Board of County Commissioners authorized a grant of $140,000 of Clark County forfeiture funds to Children’s Advocacy Center Foundation ("CAC") to provide a three-day camp (“Camp Thrive”) for victims of sexual abuse and sexually exploitation. Camp Thrive is held at the 4-H Camp & Learning Center located in Alamo, Nevada. Both camps that were held in 2024 and 2025 were a success and the CAC requests the Board extend the resolution until September 1, 2026. The extension would allow for a third camp as the original resolution expired on July 31, 2025. The third camp is anticipated to be held in June of 2026. The extension of the grant will allow the CAC to provide this valuable service to these vulnerable victims for another year.

The First Amendment will extend the expenditure of the funds until September 1, 2026. There is no increase in the amount of the grant to provide a third camp.

Staff recommends approval of the First Amendment to the Agreement between Clark County and CAC. The District Attorney's Office has reviewed and approved the Amendment as to form.
