BACKGROUND:
Child Haven serves as Clark County’s emergency shelter for children who have been removed from abusive or neglectful homes. The facility provides a safe, nurturing environment where children receive immediate care and support while longer-term placement options are identified.
Clark County Family Services (CCFS) is actively working to enhance the quality of care and outcomes for children at Child Haven and throughout the broader child welfare system. Efforts include improving on-campus programming to promote stability, emotional healing, and developmental growth for children in crisis. In addition, CCFS is expanding recruitment initiatives to attract and retain more foster parents-ensuring that
children spend less time in shelter care and more time in stable, loving homes.
Recognizing that some children have complex behavioral, medical, or developmental needs, CCFS is also developing specialty placements tailored to provide individualized care and support. These programs aim to reduce disruptions in placement, improve well-being, and strengthen the County’s overall capacity to meet the diverse needs of children in protective custody.
Together, these initiatives reflect Clark County’s commitment to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to grow up in a safe, supportive, and permanent family environment.
