BACKGROUND:

As a transplant hospital, UMC is mandated to provide and acquire the services of a properly licensed and approved histocompatibility laboratory to perform tests on the blood of prospective transplant patients. These tests are required to determine the compatibility of antigens of the donor and recipient before tissue transplantation.   This request is to approve a new agreement with Nevada Donor Network, Inc. (NDN) to provide histocompatibility testing services to UMC.  The contract is for one (1) base year with four (4), one (1) year renewal years, unless earlier terminated with a 60-day written notice.

In accordance with NRS 332.115(1)(a), this service is sole source. NDN is the sole CMS authorized provider of this service in Southern Nevada. All pricing is set by CMS under Medicare# 29-HL01.

UMC’s Director of Transplant Services has reviewed the Agreement and recommends approval by UMC’s Board of Hospital Trustees. The Agreement has been approved as to form by UMC’s Office of General Counsel.

NDN currently holds a Clark County Business License.

This Agreement was reviewed by the UMC Governing Board at their January 31, 2024 meeting and recommended for approval by the Board of Hospital Trustees.
