BACKGROUND:

The complaint alleged that two minor children sustained injuries in 2013 while in foster care and that a Clark County employee assigned to monitor their conditions failed to identify these injuries. Through negotiations with Plaintiffs’ counsel and the guardian ad Litem, the County reached a tentative settlement of $200,000 ($100,000 for each minor child) for the dismissal of all claims against the Clark County employee subject to Board of County Commission approval.  Approval of the settlement will resolve the case and allow the County to avoid any further litigation costs and expenses.

The proposed settlement has been reviewed and approved by the Civil Division of the District Attorney’s Office and the Clark County Liability Pool Committee members.
