BACKGROUND:

Las Vegas Justice Court is the first judicial forum for all domestic violence within its jurisdiction. Las Vegas Justice Court provides a domestic violence court-based court compliance program with the goal of reducing the likelihood of repeat offenses. The goals of this project are to stop such violence from escalating from a misdemeanor to a felony and reduce the risk of continuous injury and/or homicides to victims.

The Office on Violence Against Women funding is passed through the Nevada Office of the Attorney General as a Services.Training.Officers.Prosecution sub-grant to the Las Vegas Justice Court for the court compliance program. The funding permits the court to retain two full time Court Compliance Officers to monitor offenders in attending treatment and complying with all court orders related to their cases.

The period of the grant is from January 1, 2024 through December 31, 2024.
