BACKGROUND:

Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) review and approvals are currently required for any new aviation operation by federal regulations. With the increase of new and emerging technologies in aviation and the continued development in Clark County, this ordinance will ensure that applicants for such facilities are required to receive the associated FAA approvals prior to entitlements. Applicants for airports, airstrips, heliports, vertiports and other aviation flight uses will be required to obtain a Clark County Department of Aviation Director's Permit before building permits can be issued.

The proposed ordinance also incorporates new definitions for emerging technologies that are entering the aviation industry and definitions for the Director of Aviation and Federal Aviation Regulations.
