Conduct a public hearing; approve and authorize the Chair to sign a Resolution Approving the Lease between public agencies for Clark County Owned Real Property, to lease to the Board of Regents of Nevada System of Higher Education, on behalf of University of Nevada Cooperative Extension for ±1,262 square feet of land on a portion of Assessor's Parcel Number 243-35-601-003 addressed as 200 Michael Wendell Way Searchlight, Nevada, known as the Searchlight Community Center, for the construction and operation of a community garden; and authorize the Director of Real Property Management or her designee to sign the Interlocal Lease Agreement and any other documents necessary for the management of the Interlocal Lease Agreement. BACKGROUND:
On August 20, 2024, the Board of County Commissioners (Board) approved a Resolution of Intent to Lease Clark County (County) owned real property between the County and University of Nevada Cooperative Extension (UNCE) for ±1,262 square feet of land (Premises), located on a portion of Assessor's Parcel Numbers 243-35-601-003 addressed as 200 Michael Wendell Way Searchlight, Nevada known as the Searchlight Community Center for the purposes of constructing, maintaining and operating a community garden.
The Board is now being asked to approve the Interlocal Lease Agreement which provides a term for five (5) years with five (5) one (1) year options to renew without requiring the payment of any rent.
UNCE will be responsible for all maintenance of the Premises. County shall provide basic utilities so long as the cost is not burdensome to the County.
Pursuant to NRS 277.050, the Board may lease County-owned real property to another public agency without consideration and without advertising for public bids on such terms as authorized by the Board after holding a public hearing at which objections by the public may be heard.
