BACKGROUND:

The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) approved and budgeted funding for construction of the Backup Power and Cooling System for Communication Hubs project in RTC's Highway Improvement Acquisition Fund - Motor Vehicle Fuel Tax for Fiscal Year 2025.

Interlocal Contract No. 3199 identifies RTC as the lead agency for the project. The Freeway and Arterial System of Transportation (FAST) will be replacing seven network connection hub facilities and installing standardized equipment for the Arterial Management System (AMS) communication hubs, specifically addressing operational issues relating to hub cooling and continuity of operations in the event of power failures. The design is at least 90 percent complete, all necessary right-of-way to construct the project has been obtained, and FAST is ready to advertise the project for construction.

RTC has prepared the interlocal contract for the Board's consideration. RTC approved the interlocal contract at its meeting on December 12, 2024.

The District Attorney's Office has reviewed and approved the interlocal contract as to form.
