BACKGROUND:
Mr. Samuels has been employed with the Clark County Fire Department since January 22, 2001, and has promoted through the department ranks to his most recent position of Sr. Deputy Fire Chief. He previously held the positions of Firefighter, Engineer, Captain, Battalion Chief and Deputy Fire Chief.Notably, Mr. Samuels served as the Deputy Fire Chief over the Emergency Management function (since 2020) and supported the County's emergency response efforts including operations of the Family Assistance Center during the 1 October response. He and his team have been involved in multiple high-profile events including the inaugural F1 event, Super Bowl LVIII and have supported multiple natural disasters. He holds a Master of Science from UNLV in Public Affairs and Crisis and Emergency Management; along with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from UNR.Mr. Samuels completed a rigorous interview and town hall process to be considered for this position. Pursuant to Clark County code Chapter 2.40.100, I am respectfully requesting that the Board ratify this appointment.
