BACKGROUND:

To provide a comprehensive review of Outside Agency Grant (OAG) requests, Community Resources Management initiates a grant application and internal review process each year. This year nonprofit agencies and local governments within the County completed an application for funding detailing information related to proposed projects, budgets, and information concerning their nonprofit status and agency management. Department heads representing critical County services reviewed all applications. Each reviewer recommended projects that would most closely support their department's needs and made allocation recommendations accordingly.

On July 19, 2022, the Board of County Commissioners approved the allocation of $1.5 million in Department Initiatives Outside Agency Grant Funds.

On October 18, 2022, the Board of County Commissioners approved a reallocation of $77,000 from HELP of Southern Nevada's The Harbor program to Boys Town Nevada's Family Support Services program.

Boys Town Nevada, Inc. will now be unable to spend $95,000 from their original award total of $287,000 for their Family Support Services program. The Department Initiatives Committee has recommended the reallocation of the $95,000 to four other grantees: Catholic Charities of Southern Nevada: Food for Life program ($15,000, bringing the award to $115,000), HELP of Southern Nevada: Shannon West Homeless Youth Center programs ($15,000, bringing the award to $155,000), Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth: Drop-In Center program ($15,000, bringing the award to $115,000) and NPHY's The Harbor program ($35,000, bringing the award to $125,000) and Olive Crest: Early Intervention Pathway program ($15,000, bringing the award to $115,000).

Following the adoption of this reallocation, County staff will prepare the required grant resolution amendments per Nevada Revised Statutes 244.1505, which will then be sent to the County Manager or his designee for approval in advance of the implementation of the approved projects.

Approval of these grants provide matching County monies to provide supplemental services to clients of our County departments, as well as assist with the operation of social, recreational, educational, and cultural programs benefiting seniors, youth, veterans, the low income, as well as our rural and urban residents.

The District Attorney's office has reviewed and approved this item as to form.
