BACKGROUND:

Nevada Revised Statue (NRS) 244A.497, part of the County Sewage and Wastewater Law, establishes the Sewage and Wastewater Advisory Committee (SWAC) to advise county commissioners on technical issues related to wastewater collection, treatment, and water quality within the County. Committee affiliates include representatives from the Clark County Water Reclamation District, Clark County, Virgin Valley Water District, Las Vegas Valley Water District, Moapa Valley Water District, and the Cities of Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson, Boulder City, and Mesquite.

The current Chair of SWAC is Dan Fischer, an employee of the Clark County Water Reclamation District. The Committee meets quarterly to discuss wastewater flows, watershed issues, member updates, and, more recently, plans to advance an update to the Clark County Area-Wide Water Quality Management Plan.

This agenda item has been reviewed and approved by the District General Counsel.
