BACKGROUND:
The County and the International Association of Fire Fighters, Local 1908, have negotiated a LOA to add the newly created Technical Rescue Team Coordinator position, established by the Board of County Commissioners on June 2, 2026, to the IAFF Rank and File collective bargaining agreement.
The position is needed to support specialized technical rescue operations, training, and program coordination, including emerging tunnel response initiatives.
Because the classification is not currently listed in Appendix A of the existing CBA and recruitment cannot be delayed until the next bargaining cycle, the LOA formally designates the position as Schedule 82, affirms the vacancy creation date, and outlines its inclusion in Appendix A during FY28 bargaining.
