BACKGROUND:

In 2020, the Clark County Code Title 2, Chapter 2.76 was amended to create the Department of Environment and Sustainability (DES) to incorporate the functions of the former Department of Air Quality and the functions of the Desert Conservation Program and the Office of Sustainability. The proposed ordinance consolidates all DES' duties and functions from Chapters 2.76 and 9.08 into Chapter 2.76 and deletes Chapter 9.08.  In addition, the proposed ordinance updates, corrects, and clarifies DES' duties and functions.  Finally, the proposed ordinance amends Section 30.04.07 to update references to Chapter 2.76.

The proposed ordinance was introduced at the February 20, 2024, Board of County Commissioners' meeting, and a public hearing was scheduled for March 5, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.
