BACKGROUND:

The EMPG grant is a long standing and stable source of federal funding for the state and local emergency management programs.  The State of Nevada Division of Emergency Management (NDEM) notified eligible sub-recipients that applications are due April 16, 2021.  This grant requires a 50% in-kind match.  Clark County meets the matching requirement with an in-kind match of salaries and benefits paid to Clark County Fire Department personnel with emergency management responsibilities.

Acceptance of funds will provide necessary support for the core functions of the Office of Emergency Management and will allow OEM to continue funding the three existing grant funded positions: two (2) Management Analysts and one (1) Administrative Specialist, and partially fund other support staff within the division. Continuing to fund these positions provides the necessary support of emergency management, training/exercises, and resource management for the grant.

Staff recommends that the Board ratify submission of the attached grant application.
