BACKGROUND:
On December 6, 2022, Clark County Department of Family Services (DFS) received grant funding from the State of Nevada Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) to fund the Child Welfare Integration process and functions in Southern Nevada.
DFS anticipates receiving grant funding from DCFS in its yearly grant award for adoption savings program. This item is submitted to the Board of County Commissioners (BOARD) to approve and accept the anticipated award in-order to continue to provide the coordination, enhanced and improved services in the areas of post adoption and post guardianship support services, provide respite services to placement and adoptive families; provide subsidies to match non IV-E portion for KinGap subsidies; and provide youth with the resources needed to become self-sufficient as they age out of foster care. In addition, funds will allow for the creation of one (1) Office Assistant II (C21) and the continuation of one (1) Social Work Specialist (C29).
The award process for this grant differs from the normal grant application process as funding is made available to the state and passed through to DFS without advance notice, competitive process, or application submission.
Staff request the BOARD approve and authorize the anticipated grant award and accept the funds awarded.
