BACKGROUND: 

The claim is a result of a motor vehicle accident on March 10, 2021, whereby the Clark County driver executed a blind left turn across traffic when a truck in travel lane 1 stopped and directed him through. The vehicle traveling southbound in travel lane 2 did not see the County vehicle and collided with it as it made the blind left turn across its lane of travel injuring the driver claimant.  The total property damage was at $18,608.03. Total medical treatment for Kesha Floyd was approximately $42,000.

Through negotiations with legal counsel for the claimants, the claimant has agreed to accept $80,000 in settlement of the bodily injury claim to avoid any further costs and legal expenses of possible litigation in this case. If the settlement is approved, the County would also avoid costs and expenses of any future litigation.

The proposed settlement for $80,000 has been reviewed and approved by the Civil Division of the District Attorney’s Office and the Clark County Liability Pool Committee members.
