BACKGROUND:

On August 16, 2022, the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) approved the allocation of $5,406,600 in Recovery Funds to expand the 911 system through the creation of additional networks and interfaces located separately from current 911 dispatch operations.    Since then, LVMPD identified an opportunity with the Clark County and City of Las Vegas Fire Departments, as well as the City of North Las Vegas Police and Fire Department, to combine police and fire 911 services in one location.  The co-location of these services is expected to improve the 911 caller experience and enhance efficiency and response times across the community. On December 19, 2023 the BOCC approved the allocation of an additional $16,000,000 in Recovery Funds for the construction of a joint communication facility.  The remaining $4,414,316 is needed to fund the estimated construction cost based on the County’s portion of police and fire workstations required at the facility, for a total County obligation of $25,820,916.

Terms of the interlocal agreement include:
LVMPD will be responsible for maintaining the facility and will bill each jurisdiction based on the                      proportionate share of workstations assigned.
Construction funds will not be transferred until the jurisdictions have executed a shared facility operating                      agreement.
The term of the agreement is 50 years.
