BACKGROUND:
Pursuant to the OIG Self Disclosure Protocol, University Medical Center of Southern Nevada (“UMC”) made a submission to the Department of Health and Human Services (“DHHS”) regarding: (1) Medicare reimbursement erroneously paid at a higher rate; (2) matters related to unpaid physician rent; and (3) payments made to practitioners based on inaccurate invoices submitted to UMC.This matter will be resolved and UMC will be released from claims or causes of action under applicable law, including the Civil Monetary Penalties Law, in exchange for a payment of Nine Hundred Forty-Five Thousand Nine Hundred Ninety-Three Dollars and 36/100 cents ($945,993.36). This resolution is not an admission of liability by UMC.UMC is requesting authority for the CEO to execute any necessary documents for the payment and resolution of the above matters. This settlement was approved by the UMC Governing Board at their November 19, 2025 meeting and recommended for approval by the Board of Hospital Trustees.
