BACKGROUND:
Utilization of the competitively bid Washington State Department of Enterprise Services Contract will allow the Clark County Department of Aviation (CCDOA) to purchase twenty, 40-foot, low floor clean diesel buses. These buses carry passengers between the main airport terminals and the Airport Rent-A-Car Center (ARACC) and other airport locations on an as-needed basis.
CCDOA currently has a fleet of 39 diesel buses, many of which are over 20 years old. We have been supplementing that aging fleet with battery electric buses (BEBs) since 2023 and currently have 20 BEBs in the fleet. Operationally, there remains a need to maintain a fleet of diesel-powered buses. In addition to providing the minimum number of buses needed to offer basic transportation services at Harry Reid International Airport, the diesel buses will help ensure services remain in place should there be any interruption to the electric grid supporting the charging of the electric buses.
Washington State Department of Enterprise Services issued a bid for transit buses. As a result of that solicitation, they received responses from nine different manufacturers. Gillig, LLC (Company) received the award for diesel buses.
The term shall be from date of award through delivery and acceptance of the buses, with delivery expected in early 2027; with two additional renewal options to procure 10 additional diesel buses under each option, if exercised.
This recommendation of award is in accordance with NRS 332.195(1)(b) a governing body or its authorized representative may join or use contracts of the State of Nevada or another state with the authorization of the contracting vendor.
Company currently holds a Clark County business license.
