BACKGROUND:

In June 2024, KUNV Radio piloted a new program called Talk Civics. The program involved Clark County School District teachers and University of Nevada, Las Vegas professors teaching underrepresented students the basics of civics, why it's important to their lives, and how it works in Nevada.

Program participants then have the opportunity to apply to work as interns in the fall on a weekly radio show producing programming that engages their peers in how and why government and civics affect their lives.

Staff recommends that the County Commission approve and authorize the allocation of $15,000 in Clark County funding in support of the Talk Civics Program.
