BACKGROUND:

The State of Nevada, Department of Public Safety has consecutively awarded United States Department of Transportation pass-through grants to the Las Vegas Justice Court since Fiscal Year 2008 for the DUI Treatment Court Program. The program is a court-supervised, comprehensive treatment court for misdemeanor DUI offenders operating under Impaired Driving Solutions national standards. The goal of the program is to improve public safety and reduce recidivism among its participants through treatment interventions, random alcohol/drug testing, court supervision, and alcohol/drug use monitoring technology. This project will provide funding to retain one full time Specialty Courts Coordinator and provide supervision of participants with electronic monitoring and random drug testing. The funding will permit the DUI Treatment Court Program to assist with treatment services and monitor offenders in attending treatment and complying with all court orders related to their cases, including paying associated fees and fines. The term of the grant is from October 1, 2023 through September 30, 2024. Attached hereto are the applications for assistance.
