BACKGROUND:
On June 21, 2022, the Board of County Commissioners directed staff to work with stakeholders and other departments to draft an ordinance to provide for the licensing and permitting of special events. In July 2022 the department met with representatives from various County departments and in November 2022 the department held several meetings with representatives from various stakeholder groups such as Allegiant Stadium, promoters, Chambers of Commerce, the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority and the Nevada Resort Association.
The proposed ordinance was introduced at the Board of County Commissioners' meeting on May 2, 2023, and a public hearing was set for May 16, 2023, at 10 a.m. Staff recommends approval of the ordinance.
