BACKGROUND:
More than 52 million passengers traveled through Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) in 2022, and LAS is continuing to experience record passenger traffic. In consideration of this continued growth and the upcoming major events such as Formula 1 and Super Bowl LVIII, the Department of Aviation (DOA) is working diligently to optimize efficiencies in all operational areas.
Remote Airline Check-in is a highly flexible, baggage check-in service that brings the airline counter to the traveler. The service can be located anywhere on/near the airport property and provides the ability to check-in passengers for their flights, collect bag fees, generate bag tags, and securely deliver tagged luggage to the terminal for induction utilizing approved Transportation Safety Administration protocols.
Providing remote check-in services streamlines and enhances the customer experience by offering an alternate check-in experience, allowing passengers to bypass the ticket counter lines at the airport while also providing value to LAS and its partner airlines by reducing lobby and ticket counter congestion inside of the terminal.
The DOA issued RFP No. 23-002 for Remote Check-In Services for Airline Passengers & Baggage on June 6, 2023. The RFP was advertised in the Las Vegas Review-Journal on June 6, 2023, and on the LAS and Nevada Government eMarketplace websites from June 6, 2023, through June 20, 2023. One (1) proposal was received. An ad hoc committee comprised of four (4) DOA staff reviewed the proposal and recommend Baggage Airlines Guest Services, Inc. dba Bags of Nevada, LLC (Company) for contract negotiations.
Staff requests authorization to negotiate a Contract with Company. The Contract will be brought before the Board of County Commissioners for approval. Company currently holds a valid Clark County Business License.
