BACKGROUND:

Dominador M. Corpuz, as natural father of Decedent Derall Berny Ramos Corpuz, and as Special Administrator of the Estate of Derall Berny Ramos Corpuz, and Estrelita R. Corpuz, as natural mother of Decedent Derall Berny Ramos Corpuz (collectively, “Plaintiffs”), commenced a professional negligence action in Clark County District Court on July 21, 2017, against University Medical Center of Southern Nevada (“UMC”) and various other Defendants.

In an attempt to resolve this matter, UMC seeks approval to serve an offer of judgment on behalf of UMC and two (2) of its employees, in the amount of One-Hundred Thousand and One Dollars ($101,001.00), inclusive of all attorney’s fees and costs, accrued interest and any other sums, with no admission of wrongdoing and to mitigate the unknown costs of protracted litigation.  Should Plaintiffs accept the aforementioned offer of judgment, UMC shall seek dismissal of UMC and its two (2) employees from the action by way of a settlement agreement and release of all claims in accordance with the terms of the offer of judgment.

The proposed Offer of Judgment has been reviewed and recommended by UMC Administration, UMC retained litigation counsel, and UMC’s Office of General Counsel.
