BACKGROUND:

In 2008, Clark County constructed a pedestrian boardwalk, which crosses over a pond within the Wetlands Park Nature Preserve. This project was funded by the Southern Nevada Public Lands Management Act, which requires the receiving agency to ensure proper maintenance of the infrastructure funded.

Due to structural deterioration from rotting support beams that sit in standing water, a section of the pedestrian boardwalk has been closed for safety reasons. Accordingly, the Real Property Management Department has recommended replacing the support structure decking of the boardwalk to address these safety concerns and so that the pedestrian boardwalk can be reopened.

The project funding will be provided either through the Wetlands Capital Improvement Fund or via the existing Conserve Nevada Funding Agreement with the State of Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.
