BACKGROUND:
The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) has approved the Pedestrian Safety Improvements: Carey Avenue and Shatz Street, Tenaya Way and Robindale Road, and Kids Zone Parkway and Spring Mountain Road project on its annual Capital Improvement Program from its Highway Improvement Acquisition Fund - Fuel Revenue Indexing for Fiscal Year 2026.
Interlocal Contract No. 3272 provides funds for construction of the subject project consisting of the installation of solar-powered pedestrian flasher systems at Robindale Road and Tenaya Way, and Spring Mountain Road and Kids Zone Parkway, and a solar-powered school flasher system at Carey Avenue and Shatz Street. The work also includes pavement marking and striping removal, salvage of signs and posts, tack-on median installation, new pavement markings and striping, new signs and posts, and other related items of work as specified on the drawings. The design for the project was funded by Clark County. The design is at least 90 percent complete, and all necessary right-of-way to construct the project has been obtained. The term of the contract is effective until June 30, 2031, unless time extensions are granted.
RTC has prepared Interlocal Contract No. 3272 for the Board's consideration. RTC approved the interlocal contract at its meeting on June 11, 2026.
The District Attorney's Office has reviewed and approved the interlocal contract as to form.
