BACKGROUND:

The Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) has awarded a subgrant to the Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner (CCOCME) for reimbursement of Center for Disease Control's State Unintentional Drug Overdose Reporting System (SUDORS) funds to support standardized case-level data collection and develop reports on fatal opioid overdoses in Clark County.

The subgrant will fund a contractual Grant Consulting Coordinator, Data Collection Specialists, and travel for case and record reviews with local and state agencies. Grant employees will assist in agency representation and formation of state-level taskforce and assist in streamlining software and reporting process that aid in real time analysis and data collection methods between the state, CCOCME, and SNHD as well as attending the National Opioid Surveillance Conference. Subgrant funds will also be utilized to perform additional toxicology testing on suspected opioid involved deaths.

Based upon the previous successes of the CCOCME participation in federal and state grant programs, it is recommended that the Board approve the ratification of this subgrant from the Southern Nevada Health District and accept funds awarded on behalf of the CCOCME. This subgrant is now before the Board of County Commission for ratification given CCOCME is a subgrantee of the Southern Nevada Health District who applied for the grant.

The following are the pertinent provisions of the contract:
•The term of the contract is from September 1, 2025 through August 31, 2026.
•This contract includes the County’s option to terminate with advanced written notice.
