BACKGROUND:
Clark County, together with the City of Las Vegas and the City of North Las Vegas, jointly utilize and support the animal shelter operation located at 655 North Mojave Road. This Contract provides for the care and shelter of animals delivered to the shelter by the respective residents, animal control officers and law enforcement officers of the collective jurisdictions.
On September 16, 2025, in accordance with the NRS 332.195(b) the Board of County Commissioners (Board), approved the award of RFP No. 240179-JG to The Animal Foundation in the amount of $4,948,944 for the initial term for Animal Care and Shelter Services. The Board requested at that meeting that staff return this item for renewal.
The following are the pertinent provisions of the Contract:
• The term of this Contract renewal is from July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027, and there are three (3), additional one-year periods.
• Included the County’s option to terminate for cause, convenience or default and suspend the Contract with advanced written notice.
This approval will authorize staff to exercise the 1st of 4 renewal options, for the term of July 1, 2026, to June 30, 2027, as well as authorizing staff to exercise the remaining future renewal options if it is appropriate and prudent to do so.
The Animal Foundation currently holds a Clark County Business License.
