BACKGROUND:
On May 5, 2020, the Board of County Commissioners approved the submission of FY2020-2024 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Capital Improvement Plan (CIP), approved a project list, and authorized staff to submit the CDBG Pre-Award Approval Request to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and subsequently approved the FY 2020-2024 CDBG CIP.
The CIP included an allocation of $400,000 for the Accessible Space, Inc. for the design and remodel of Hastings House, a rehabilitative facility for people with traumatic brain injuries. Subsequently, on July 20,2021, an additional amount of $118,000 was approved due to supply system issues and increased construction costs. Due to increase in costs even further, another $51,000 is needed to meet the current market pricing for materials and labor. CDBG administrative cost savings will be reallocated to the project.
This capital improvement project will involve a remodel to Hastings House, an eight unit accessible, affordable
group home owned and operated by Accessible Space, Inc. (ASI). Hastings House is located at 3253 Hastings
Avenue, Las Vegas, Nevada 89107, built on a 0.51-acre site.
