BACKGROUND:

The Outside Agency Grant (OAG) is designed to supplement services provided directly by the County or are funded in lieu of the County’s needing to establish such programs.  These funds assist with the operation of social, recreational, educational, and cultural programs benefiting seniors, youth, veterans, the low income, as well as our rural and urban residents.

On June 2, 2026, the Board of County Commissioners approved the recommended allocation of $1.5 million in OAG funds for Community Initiatives which were selected by the OAG Review Committee, and authorized the execution of any required grant documents in alignment with Fiscal Directive 6 guidelines, per NRS 244.1505.

In July 2026, Friends of Nevada State Museum of Las Vegas advised CCSS of their inability to execute the program and spend their $15,000 allocation of the 2026-2027 OAG award.  Per OAG procedures, the remaining funds must be reallocated to other programs who completed a 2026-2027 OAG application.  The Review Committee recommends the funding be reallocated in the following manner:  $5,000 to Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Southern Nevada for their Act III Senior Education Series; $5,000 to IAF, Inc for their Community Arts Access Program; and $5,000 to Poetry Promise, Inc. for their Poets in the Schools Program.
