BACKGROUND:
The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), funded by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), is an annual entitlement grant with the goal of developing viable urban communities through the provision of decent, safe, and sanitary housing, suitable living environment, and expansion of economic development opportunities, primarily for low- and moderate-income persons.
On May 18, 2021, Board of County Commissioners approved the submittal of the FY2021-2022 HUD Annual Action Plan for Housing and Community Development to HUD, which described funding allocations for CDBG and other entitlement grants managed by Clark County Social Service.
Of the $8,218,155 CDBG FY2021-2022 grant total, $1,518,631 is allocated to Administration to support and manage the grant funds and programming. This agenda item allows for the creation of additional limited perm grant positions as follows: two Grants Coordinators (C23) and one Senior Financial Office Specialist (C24). In summary, three FTE positions would be created for CDBG, beginning with FY2023.
The District Attorney's office has reviewed and approved as to form.
