BACKGROUND:

On March 19, 2024, the Board of County Commissioners approved the Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) Interlocal Agreement No. C2400082 for a subgrant award to the Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner (CCOCME) in the amount of $45,539.00 to support standardized case-level data collection entry and reporting into the Center for Disease Control (CDC) web-based national Nevada Violent Death Reporting System (NVDRS) for jurisdictional counties including: Clark, Lincoln, Esmerelda, White Pine, and the southern portion of Nye county. The subgrant also funds Data Collection Specialists and travel for case and record reviews with local and state agencies.

Approval of Amendment No. 1 will provide CCOCME with additional funds to continue identifying risk factors and developing/implementing strategies aimed at reducing violent deaths and to continue to assist with streamlining software and reporting processes into NVDRS, which aid in real time analysis and data collection methods between the state, CCOCME and SNHD. The term of the contract is from September 1, 2023 through August 31, 2024, and allows the County to terminate the contract with advanced written notice.

Staff recommends that the Board ratify and approve Amendment No. 1 to the Interlocal Agreement with SNHD, and accept the awarded funds on behalf of CCOCME.
