BACKGROUND:
At the conclusion of an internal recruitment opportunity, Ms. Susan Bush has been selected as the successful candidate for the position of Director of Office of Appointed Council effective August 7, 2023.
Ms. Bush has over 20 years of experience as an attorney. For the last six years, she has served Clark County as Chief Deputy Special Public Defender handling criminal cases, including death penalty trials. She also has experience in private practice and managing a law firm. She has been appointed indigent defense counsel for: Clark County criminal and dependency cases; State of Nevada post-conviction matters and the City of Las Vegas misdemeanor cases. In addition, she served as an arbitrator for the Court Annexed Arbitration Program for the Eighth Judicial District Court. She has extensive knowledge in contract billing, conflict counsel appointments, expert retention, and business management. Her experience working in both dependency and criminal matters as a contract attorney gives her the abilities to understand and manage any policy changes that may impact the county. Ms. Bush's experience and expertise will be a value to Clark County.
