BACKGROUND:

On July 20, 2004, the Board of County Commissioners adopted a resolution authorizing the Fire Chief to accept donations to the department, including personal property valued at up to $2,500 and monetary donations up to $1,000.  Individual donations valued at more than $2,500 in personal property or $1,000 in cash will be presented to the Board of County Commissioners for acceptance at a regularly scheduled meeting.

The Nevada Energy Foundation, through the Nevada Fire Chiefs Association, has awarded $10,000 to Clark County Fire Department for the HazMatIQ First Responder Offensive (FRO) Train-the-Trainer Course, a critical training initiative for Southern Nevada fire service professionals.  The FRO program provides operation-level firefighters with a proven, field-based methodology to rapidly assess hazardous material incidents and make informed decisions to protect lives, property, and the environment.  Acceptance of this donation will enable Clark County to expand its training capacity, allowing certified instructors to bring this life-saving knowledge back to their agencies and train personnel throughout the region.

The Clark County Fire Department appreciates the generosity and recommends acceptance of the donation.
