The total cost to the General Fund would be neutral through a reduction in the County's overall burden charge to the Court for services otherwise provided.
BACKGROUND:
At the February 15, 2022, Board of County Commissioner's meeting, the Board approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Clark County (County) and the Eighth Judicial District Court (Court). Pursuant to the agreement, the County and the Court have mutually agreed to one another's responsibilities regarding administrative and fiscal functions in the operation of continuing governmental and Court services. To comply with the responsibilities taken on by the Court, the Court has determined that it will require additional staff. Funding for these positions will be cost neutral from the County's FY23 general fund perspective and should not reduce any funding that may otherwise be available for other FY23 supplemental positions. The cost of these positions will be offset by a reduction in the County's internal burden charge imposed upon the Court for services that would otherwise be performed by the County departments.
