BACKGROUND:
At the August 6, 2019, Clark County Board of County Commissioners (County Commission) meeting, the County Commission directed staff to develop a process to establish cultural districts within unincorporated Clark County. The County Commission approved the Clark County Cultural District Designation Policy (Policy) to establish a formal process to create cultural districts throughout unincorporated Clark County at its September 17, 2019 meeting.
On September 12, 2024, staff met with representative from the Filipino Community and received the application for Filipino Town.
On September 24, 2024, Commissioner Segerblom met with representative from the Filipino Community.
On October 1, 2024, Commissioner Segerblom allowed the application for Filipino Town to move forward.
At the November 5, 2024, BCC meeting, representatives of the Filipino community presented to the Board.
The recommendation was to allow the Filipino Town application to move forward.
On January 23, 2025, postcards were mailed to 954 property and business owners within the proposed Cultural
District. The postcards had the meeting information for Paradise Town Advisory Board, along with the BCC meeting on March 16.
On February 25, 2025, representatives of the Filipino community presented to the Paradise Town
Advisory Board.
Following the presentation from the Filipino community, the Board may direct staff to prepare a resolution
designating the "Filipino Town" Cultural District.
