BACKGROUND:
On April 20, 2021, the Board of County Commissioners approved an allocation of ESG funds in the amount of $51,964 to The Salvation Army, a California non-profit organization, to support rapid rehousing services for homeless individuals and families through their programs. HELP of Southern Nevada, a Nevada non-profit organization, was also awarded $82,968 to provide rapid rehousing services for homeless individuals, including youth.
HELP of Southern Nevada advised Clark County staff of the inability to accept the award. According to guidelines from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development and under the direction of the Clark County Community Development Advisory Committee, any returned or additional award funds are to be split evenly between the other rapid rehousing providers. The Salvation Army was contacted and agreed to accept half of the returned award or $41,484, to further support their rapid rehousing program.
The Board of County Commissioners has the final authority over the allocation of these funds, subject to the County meeting federal requirements. This agenda item allows the County Manager or his designee to approve and sign necessary resolutions for the ESG program.
