BACKGROUND:
Senate Bill 407 of the 79th Session of the Nevada Legislature established the Nevada Clean Energy Fund (NRS 701B.995). NRS 701B.995 also created the Board of Directors (Board) for the Nevada Clean Energy Fund. Among its duties, the Board shall annually develop and adopt a work program to serve and support the development of qualified clean energy projects in Nevada; develop rules, policies, and procedures which specify the eligibility of borrowers, and any other terms or conditions of the financial support to be provided by the Nevada Clean Energy Fund; and prepare an annual report for the public on the financing activities of the Nevada Clean Energy Fund. Additional duties of the Board are detailed in NRS 701B.995.
The Board is composed of nine members, five of which are appointed by the Governor to three-year terms, and consists of the following members:
• One representative from the Clark County Board of County Commissioners (County Commission);
• One representative from the Washoe County Board of County Commissioners;
• One representative from one of the other 15 Counties in Nevada;
• One representative from organized labor organizations in Nevada;
• One representative of the State Contractor’s Board;
• The Director of the Office of Energy;
• The Executive Director of the Office of Economic Development or his or her designee;
• The Real Estate Administrator of the Department of Business and Industry or his or her designee; and
• The Commissioner of Financial Institutions or his or her designee.
Members serve without compensation for a three-year term on the Board.
Leslie Lazareck’s term expires June 30, 2023, and he has expressed an interest in continuing his work with the Board. The Board, in turn, enthusiastically welcomes his expertise.
The County Commission is asked to re-nominate Leslie Lazareck for the Nevada Clean Energy Fund for another three-year (3-year) term that ends in 2026.
