BACKGROUND:
On November 18, 2021, the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) approved Interlocal Contract No. 1319 for the FAST Traffic Signal Detection, Repair, and Replacement project (Public Works Project No. PW.R262CFT) to repair and replace traffic signal detection devices at various locations throughout jurisdictions within Clark County, City of Las Vegas, City of North Las Vegas, City of Henderson, City of Boulder City, and City of Mesquite (collectively "Entities"). The Board of County Commissioners approved this contract on December 7, 2021.
Four supplementals to Interlocal Contract No. 1319 were previously approved to increase total funds to procure and install detection systems at intersections identified to have faulty detection, and to repair and replace specified detection equipment devices and other supporting equipment and infrastructure.
Supplemental No. 5 to Interlocal Contract No. 1319 increases construction funds to continue the Traffic Signal Detection, Repair, and Replacement Program for an additional two years. This additional funding will purchase and install video image detectors at intersections with faulty detection equipment, which have an impact on traffic signal operations. FAST has worked with the local agencies to identify priority intersections for the new detection systems.
RTC approved the fifth supplemental contract at its meeting on July 11, 2024. Each of the Entities is scheduled to approve the fifth supplemental contract at their respective Board/Council meetings. The District Attorney's Office has reviewed and approved the fifth supplemental contract as to form.
