BACKGROUND:
Pursuant to NRS 244.184 (1), the County Commission is required to designate one or more employees to develop and biennially update a Language Access Plan for Clark County that complies with the requirements of NRS 244.184 (2), (3), and (4).
The County Commission approved Clark County's initial Language Access Plan (Plan) at the July 2, 2024, County Commission meeting. Since its adoption, the Clark County Language Access Committee has met regularly to implement the initiatives outlined in the Plan and prepare the required biennial update.
NRS 244.184 (4) requires the County Commission to conduct a public hearing to solicit public comment on the updated Plan. Following the public hearing, staff are required to submit the updated Plan to the Governor's Office for New Americans by August 1, 2026.
The County Commission is asked to conduct the required public hearing, receive public comment on the updated Plan, provide any direction to the Committee, and authorize staff to submit the updated Plan to the Governor's Office for New Americans.
