BACKGROUND:
At the August 19, 2021, County Commission meeting, the County Commission authorized the Director of the Clark County Parks and Recreation Department (Parks and Recreation) to accept individual donations for the 1 October Memorial. Parks and Recreation was authorized to accept donations by check up to $25,000 and cash and credit card donations of up to $1,000 for the 1 October Memorial. A quarterly update was presented to the County Commission. This was in conjunction with the work of the 1 October Memorial Committee. On September 5, 2023, the 1 October Memorial Committee presented their selected design concept to the County Commission and their work concluded.
This agenda item rescinds the direction provided on August 19, 2021. Clark County has now selected the Vegas Strong Fund Non-Profit Organization as the non-profit to fundraise, design, and construct the 1 October Memorial. All individuals looking to donate to the 1 October Memorial should be directed to the Vegas Strong Fund, a Nevada non-profit corporation.
