BACKGROUND:

On September 9, 2021, the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) and Clark County, City of Las Vegas, City of North Las Vegas, City of Henderson, City of Boulder City, and City of Mesquite (collectively "Entities") entered into Interlocal Contract No. 1321 for the Lot A: Fiber Optics Service Contract (formerly RTC - Traffic Signal Maintenance On-Call Service) (Clark County Public Works Project No. PW.R262EFT) to repair, replace and maintain traffic signal detection at various locations throughout Clark County. The Board of County Commissioners approved this contract on October 5, 2021.

The Board of County Commissioners and RTC previously approved four supplementals to Interlocal Contract No. 1321.

Supplemental No. 5 to Interlocal Contract No. 1321 will provide additional construction funds to continue the Fiber Optics Service Program. This program installs fiber optic cable where fiber optic may be damaged or missing in order to provide connectivity to traffic signals. The fiber optic installations improve arterial operations by providing direct communication to the traffic signal cabinets.

RTC approved the fifth supplemental contract at its meeting on July 11, 2024. Each of the Entities is scheduled to approve the fifth supplemental contract at their respective Board/Council meetings. The District Attorney's Office has reviewed and approved the fifth supplemental contract as to form.
