BACKGROUND:
The proposed 2024 Residential Code replaces the current 2018 edition.
The Southern Nevada Amendments to the 2024 International Residential Code were developed jointly by the Southern Nevada Building Officials and the local construction industry through committee hearings and actions.
Adopting and enforcing the 2024 International Residential Code with the Southern Nevada Amendments will provide for improved construction methods and materials, contribute to consistency in construction of newly constructed residential buildings in Clark County, and keep Clark County consistent with the State of Nevada Public Works Division, which has already adopted the 2024 International Residential Code.
The ordinance was introduced at the July 1, 2025, Board of County Commissioners' meeting, and a public hearing was scheduled for July 15, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. Staff recommends approval of the ordinance to amend Title 22, Chapter 22.05 of the Clark County Code.
