BACKGROUND:
In accordance with Title 2, Chapter 2.68 of Clark County Code, the Board of County Commissioners may appoint hearing officers to act on behalf of the board to conduct appeals to the board.
Currently, appointed hearing officers, unless employed by the county, shall be entitled to compensation from the county for services rendered on any given hearing at the rate of seventy dollars per hour. The seventy-dollar per hour rate has been in place since 2001. An evaluation was conducted to review this compensation rate and bring it commensurate with the duties being performed. Staff is proposing a rate of one hundred and twenty dollars an hour as the updated compensable rate to coincide with the parameters of Chapter 2.68.060.
The proposed ordinance was introduced at the October 15, 2024, Board of County Commissioner's meeting, and a public hearing was scheduled for November 5, 2024. Staff recommends approval of the ordinance to amend Title 2 of the Clark County Code Chapter 2.68.060 to increase the hearing officer hourly compensation rate.
