BACKGROUND:
On July 1, 2019, the City of Tucson/OMNIA Partners awarded Contract No. 192163 to W.W. Grainger, Inc. for Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) Supplies, Parts, Equipment, Materials, and Related Services. On October 15, 2019, the Board approved the District to utilize the City of Tucson/OMNIA Partners contract via joinder, with an originally approved expenditure of $1,175,000.
District staff utilizes this contract for the purchase of MRO supplies, parts, materials, and related services daily. This includes, but is not limited to, material handling, plumbing, welding, HVAC, and safety supplies. Because of a growing demand for MRO supplies and uncertainties in the market, staff is requesting a $500,000 increase to the initial contract amount. This adjustment will support District needs throughout the entire contract period until December 31, 2024, including any potential renewal negotiated by the City of Tucson/OMNIA Partners.
NRS 332.195.1(c) allows a governing body to use contracts of a cooperative purchasing organization with the authorization of the contracting vendor. W.W. Grainger, Inc. has authorized the District to use this contract in order to take advantage of the competitive pricing and volume discounts offered to public agencies. W.W. Grainger, Inc., (LBE) currently holds a Clark County business license.
This agenda item has been reviewed and approved by the District General Counsel.
