BACKGROUND:
On December 7, 2021, the Clark County Board of County Commissioners approved Resolution No. R12-7-21-1 which, among other things, granted a waiver to The Rock 'n' Roll Las Vegas Marathon and Half Marathon of Section 16.06.060 of the Clark County Code for portions of the marathon route approved by Clark County which occur on Las Vegas Boulevard South so long as the Rock 'n' Roll Las Vegas Marathon and Half Marathon event takes place on the last Sunday in February in the years 2022 through 2032.
In 2027, the Rock 'n' Roll Las Vegas Marathon and Half Marathon will be held on Sunday, February 21, and not the last Sunday in February as approved in Resolution No. R12-7-21-1. Therefore, it is necessary to approve a separate waiver of Title 16, Section 16.06.060 - Restriction on streets and times for the Rock 'n' Roll Las Vegas Marathon and Half Marathon on Las Vegas Boulevard South on Sunday, February 21, 2027. Rock 'n' Roll Las Vegas Marathon and Half Marathon positively impacts the local economy bringing thousands of runners annually to the Las Vegas Valley.
