BACKGROUND:
Commissioner Kirkpatrick has requested an agenda item to recognize October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month in Clark County and Go Purple. Every minute of every day, women, children and men fall victim to domestic or sexual violence. Sadly, Nevada has one of the highest rates in the nation of this crime, but police and advocacy organizations are working every day to protect survivors and stop domestic violence before it happens. Commissioner Kirkpatrick would like to highlight resources in the community that are available to help victims of domestic violence and to help prevent the occurrence of domestic violence through anger management and other preventative treatment programs.
