BACKGROUND: 

Clark County has completed design and substantial construction of the new Desert Breeze Baseball Complex (Complex).

During design of the Complex, a recommendation was submitted to name the all-inclusive baseball diamond after Mike Aker.

Mr. Akers coached little league baseball from 1982 until his passing in 2020. During that time, he served as vice President and President of the Central Little League, District Administrator of Little League Baseball, a member of the Las Vegas City Council, a volunteer for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and on the Parks & Recreation Board.

This item was presented to the County's Long Range Planning Committee on February 25, 2026.
