BACKGROUND:

Communities in Schools of Nevada received a grant from the U.S. Department of Education and in turn has given a subaward of the grant to the Department of Juvenile Justice Services (DJJS) for $806,040 over a five-year period. DJJS plans to fund positions to provide The Harbor services directly to Service Title 1A schools identified as Rancho High School and J.D. Smith Middle School. DJJS will provide on-site services and resources to an estimated 250 students annually and provide their families with intake assessments and case management services.  DJJS will provide students and families with resources and support for mental and behavioral health problems, mentoring, and basic needs through The Harbor.

The grant-funded positions will include one (1) full-time Management Analyst I/II position (C29), and three (3) part-time Youth and Family Assistant positions.  The Management Analyst I/II will ensure effective coordination of services between both school locations, The Harbor, and partners, including the collection and analyzing data and training of staff.  Youth and Family Assistants will meet with students and families on campus, at a Harbor site, or in the community to complete an intake to assess for areas of need, will connect the youth and family to resources and support case management.
